Work Sustainably with Office Depot’s Green Line
Wednesday, September 30th, 2009

If you had the chance to visit our Kohler LivingHome while it was on display in Long Beach, CA, this February, I hope you noticed the sharp study filled with recycled office supplies and sustainable home office furniture by Office Depot.

At the “Office Depot Green” online store, you can purchase recycled paper and envelopes, refillable and recycled pens, pencils, and markers, Energy Star technology, non-toxic office furniture made from recycled materials, and more.  It is the first office supply line dedicated to sustainability and aims to provide packaging that quickly identifies these products to consumers.  Browse through the entire Green Office Depot line.

To help you out even further, Office Depot also publishes a “Guide to Buying Green” filled with information about the sustainable qualifications of their products and what to look for to reduce waste, energy, and chemicals in your purchases.

Office Depot also has a corporate commitment to the environment.  The Office Depot environmental mission is to “Buy Green, Be Green and Sell Green”.  The company’s “green” initiatives include making FSC-certfied paper widely available, reducing their carbon dioxide emissions by more than 10%, and opening its first LEED-certified retail store.  Like LivingHomes, Office Depot believes that sustainability is key to the economic well being of their company.

LivingHomes Sponsor: Kristin Kilmer Design
Friday, June 12th, 2009

When we built the Kohler LivingHome, the first LivingHome designed by KieranTimberlake, for the TED conference, we were lucky to have some enthusiastic participating sponsors. Throughout the home, our sponsors showcased cool products that share LivingHome’s values for quality design and sustainability. In the next few weeks I will highlight each of them.

Kristin Kilmer Design, Inc. is a full-service interior design firm based in Los Angeles. In Kristin’s words, her designs bring an innovative and eclectic viewpoint to her projects, while creating spaces that are comfortable and functional. She is especially passionate about the health of the individual, and uses allergen-free, non-toxic materials, fabrics, fillers, paints and finishes throughout her designs. After years in Marketing Communications, as a Production Designer for independent films, and time spent living and studying in Spain, Kristin has found her niche in Residential and Commercial Interior Design.

When she designed and furnished the interiors of the Kohler LivingHome, Kristin fully embraced LivingHomes’ principles of sustainability. Throughout the home, Kristin included furnishings and decorations made of recycled and sustainable materials. The reclaimed dining table was a big hit!

If you didn’t make it to the Kohler LivingHome during the TED conference in Long Beach, be sure to check out Kristin’s interiors in the home here.
