You may get tax credits for 30% of the cost of geothermal heat pumps, solar panels, solar water heaters, small wind energy systems, and fuel cells. Not ready to build yet? If you are updating your existing home, there are also tax credits available for improvements to your windows, skylights, doors, insulation, roofs, HVAC systems, water heaters, and bio-mass stoves.
